I thought my first journal post should be about why I wanted to join DeviantART. Of course, its a fantastic platform to get your work out there with a supportive community and willing professionals able to help you along, but that's not why I'm here. I'm not here because I'm inspired and I'm not looking to be anything exceptional. I write and I draw because that's what I like doing. That's why you're here, isn't it?
     I don't expect that I'll be some phenomenon but I want to see how I fare, to see if I get praise or if I just can't cut it. I like my work, maybe you will too. I'll keep doing it even if you don't. I don't have any special goals either, concerning art. I would like to write and draw professionally, we all would, but I don't mind biding my time while perhaps I get good enough to do something here. I don't compete, not in art anyway. We all have what we like and don't like, there's no reason to say that one is worse than the other simply because you feel that way. If no opinion is right what's the point in holding one?
     When I met Grayson Perry he said that 'my favorite piece of work that I've produced is always going to be my next one, because if people start thinking they've had their hay-day then why bother with the death throws?' That's how I like to think of myself, that one day in the future I'll be better at this than I am currently.
     A rather morbid opening don't you think?
